Thistle Series

These works sample the color palette of a known painting by Mirò, translating the original color and form into poetic abstraction. [Thistle] investigates what lies beneath that which is visible in full stationary light. A once familiar painting is transformed into a luminous and mesmerizing chromatic spectrum.

Spinning Color Fields

Based on a series of spun post-impressionist paintings, these prints distill essential palettes into shifting linear fields. The process of extracting color is an energetic translation across mediums using a 16mm movie motor, videocamera, and digital stills.
